Rage of Morditas Seasonal Mechanic

Blood Crystals will appear while players travel through Eterra. Entering an area containing one produces an on-screen warning, while the crystal itself appears on the minimap as a blood-ice shard.

Activating a crystal summons the rage-fueled shade of Morditas and begins a timed encounter. Players must kill as many enemies as possible before Morditas loses patience. Each kill helps generate Bloodrage Charges, which are later spent on rewards and rituals.

Two-Phase Encounters

The first phase focuses on quickly hunting monsters while filling the rage meter. Morditas can also provide temporary Bloodrage buffs during the encounter:

  • Revitalizing Rage can produce blood potions that temporarily improve movement speed.
  • Freezing Rage creates projectiles with a high freeze rate.
  • Coalescing Rage produces blood orbs that detonate when touched by enemies.
  • Reptilian Bloodrage periodically summons nearby lizards.

When the timer expires, the Gauntlet of Blood and Ice begins. Previously defeated enemies return inside an enclosed arena, forcing players to survive one final fight before accessing the reward crystal.

Bloody and Frozen Ritual Rewards

After completing the encounter, players can interact with a Blood-Filled Crystal containing five reward slots. Four slots hold equipment, while the fifth may contain keys, crafting materials or resource bags.

Bloodrage Charges can be used to take a reward, refresh the available selection or perform one of two rituals.

Ritual Effect
Bloody Ritual Removes the selected slot and prevents future rewards from being the same item type. It reduces the number of remaining choices but improves the potential reward pool.
Frozen Ritual Locks the selected slot and makes the refreshed rewards match its item type. Equipment will also attempt to retain similar affixes.

The more rituals players perform before selecting an item, the stronger the remaining rewards are likely to become. The trade-off is simple: fewer choices in exchange for better loot.

Unused Bloodrage Charges do not carry into the next encounter. The reward selection does persist between encounters and only changes when the player performs a ritual or claims an item.

New Forging Potential Types

Items created through the ritual system can have two exclusive forms of Forging Potential:

  • Ice Forging Potential has a chance to be preserved whenever it is consumed during crafting.
  • Blood Forging Potential increases the chance of achieving a critical crafting success.

Frozen Ritual items receive Ice Forging Potential, while Bloody Ritual items receive Blood Forging Potential. The system gives players another reason to evaluate how they manipulate each reward panel instead of simply taking the first useful item.

Morditas and the New Pinnacle Boss

Completing Rage of Morditas encounters advances a separate progression path visible through the new Nexus window. This eventually unlocks a three-part Woven Echo chain that ends with a fight against Morditas.

An Anger gauge controls the difficulty of the entire chain. Higher Anger makes all three Echoes more dangerous but also improves the final rewards. Players who push the meter too far can appease Morditas to lower the difficulty.

Defeating the seasonal version of Morditas can award the Demigod's Ascendance Woven Echo, providing access to Pinnacle Morditas, the God of Bloodshed.

The Pinnacle encounter requires 400 Corruption before it can be placed in the Echo Web. Its difficulty does not continue scaling with Corruption and is intended to bridge the progression gap leading toward Uber Aberroth.

Three New Skills in Season 5

Rage of the Frostborn adds one ability for Paladin and the final mastery skills for Shaman and Bladedancer.

Radiant Lance - Paladin

Radiant Lance calls holy lightning into the Paladin's shield before firing a concentrated blast forward. Its damage scales with uncapped block chance, allowing shield-focused builds to continue benefiting beyond 100% block chance.

The skill tree also supports alternative setups. Cloudless Sky allows Radiant Lance to work without a shield and replaces block scaling with mana scaling, while Abyssal Heresy converts the skill to Void damage for Void Knight builds.

Summon Tide Elemental - Shaman

Summon Tide Elemental gives Shaman a powerful minion that can function as the centerpiece of a dedicated minion build or provide support for other setups.

The elemental can be converted into a stationary Tidal Totem, interact with Tornado and Maelstrom, or provide nearby allies with additional cold spell damage and cast speed through the Wellspring aura.

Dreamslash - Bladedancer

Dreamslash is a fast, low-cost movement attack. The Bladedancer strikes enemies along a path before finishing with a quick slash, while active Shadows repeat the ability and dash through additional targets.

Its tree supports wave attacks, Shadow Dagger builds, fire conversion and the unusual Dream mechanic. Dream stacks greatly increase Dreamslash damage but may cause the skill to target random enemies.

Merchant's Guild and Circle of Fortune Updates

Both Item Factions receive substantial quality-of-life improvements in Season 5. Merchant's Guild players get a faster trading interface, while Circle of Fortune members gain more control over the rewards produced by Prophecies.

Faction Major Season 5 Changes
Merchant's Guild Combined search and listing interface, improved affix filters, suggested prices, automatic price reduction and access to every Bazaar stall from one interface.
Circle of Fortune Selectable Prophecy rewards, automatically charging objectives, stash-wide Lenses and new targeted reward types.

Merchant's Guild Improvements

Searching and listing items are now handled through the same Bazaar interface. Selecting an item for sale automatically applies filters showing similar equipment, making it easier to compare listings.

Season 5 also introduces suggested prices based on completed sales for items with comparable attributes, including Legendary Potential and exalted affixes. Sellers can enable automatic price reduction and choose how quickly an unsold item's price decreases.

Purchasing item categories is no longer restricted by Merchant's Guild rank. Instead, higher ranks unlock bags containing keys, shards, glyphs and runes that can be purchased with excess favor and gold.

Circle of Fortune Improvements

Prophecy rerolling has been removed. Players now select the reward they want, after which the Prophecy automatically charges and repeatedly completes as favor is earned.

Lenses are unlocked for the entire stash after purchase and can modify charge speed, item categories, affix tiers and Legendary Potential. New reward categories include Rune of Havoc, Rune of Redemption, Experimental items, Harbinger bases and Champion items.

First Blood Season 5 Race and Rewards

The First Blood race begins the moment Season 5 launches. Participants must defeat Pinnacle Morditas using an Online Seasonal character in Solo Account Found or Solo Character Found mode.

Reward Requirement
Blood Seeker Title Log into Season 5 during the first two weeks.
Enraged Legend Supporter Pack Be the first player to defeat Pinnacle Morditas with one of the five base classes in Normal or Hardcore.

One winner will be selected for each class in Normal and Hardcore, creating ten possible Supporter Pack winners. A player may only win once.

Is Rage of the Frostborn Worth Returning For?

Season 5 is shaping up to be a substantial update for both new and returning Last Epoch players. Rage of Morditas adds a repeatable combat and reward system, while the two Rituals provide meaningful control over target farming instead of relying entirely on random drops.

The faction reworks should reduce time spent navigating the Bazaar or rerolling Prophecies, and the three skills open several new Paladin, Shaman and Bladedancer builds. Players interested in endgame progression will also have Morditas, Pinnacle Morditas and the First Blood race waiting from launch day.

Last Epoch Season 5: Rage of the Frostborn launches October 1, 2026. Full balance changes, additional Unique items and detailed system adjustments will be confirmed in the complete patch notes.
