WoW Forever PvP Progression: Honor, 14 Ranks and Epic Gear Rewards
Blizzard has outlined the PvP progression system coming to World of Warcraft: Forever. Players will earn Honor to purchase equipment and Rank Points to advance through 14 ranks. The reward ladder includes faction cosmetics, mounts, epic armor upgrades and the weapons unlocked at Grand Marshal or High Warlord.
The announcement also explains how seasonal tasks contribute to the Legacy System, giving players another reason to participate even when their immediate goal is a particular item rather than Rank 14.
Honor and Rank Points Serve Different Purposes
| Progression Resource | What It Does | Main Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Honor | Currency spent on PvP equipment and related purchases. | Player kills, battlegrounds and relevant PvP quests. |
| Rank Points | Advance your rank and unlock reward purchases, subject to weekly progression limits. | Battlegrounds and relevant PvP quests, with holiday bonuses. |
Blizzard is also adjusting Honor gains across battlegrounds. The aim is to make different maps competitive choices for farming, reducing the pressure to spend every session in Alterac Valley. Battleground holiday weeks will provide additional rewards.
Plan Around the Reward You Want
Your next purchase determines which part of progression matters most. If you need basic equipment, focus on earning Honor. If the upgrade you want requires a higher rank, track your Rank Points and the current weekly limit alongside your currency.
How Rare Gear Upgrades into Epic Gear
Forever offers rare-quality and epic-quality PvP equipment. The rare set provides the starting point. To upgrade an eligible armor piece, players need the corresponding rare item and an Emboldened Seal; purchasing the seal requires the appropriate rank.
For example, the Premier Emboldened Chest Seal is used for chest armor. Keep the rare piece you intend to upgrade when planning your purchases.
Blizzard is expanding equipment options for different specializations as well. Shamans will have PvP sets suited to healing, melee damage and caster damage.
All 14 PvP Ranks and Their Rewards
The familiar Alliance and Horde rank names return. The following ladder shows which purchases become available as you advance.
| Rank | Alliance | Horde | Unlocked Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Private | Scout | Faction tabard |
| 2 | Corporal | Grunt | PvP insignia trinket |
| 3 | Sergeant | Sergeant | Faction cloaks |
| 4 | Master Sergeant | Senior Sergeant | Faction necklace |
| 5 | Sergeant Major | First Sergeant | Combat potions |
| 6 | Knight | Stone Guard | Higher-rank faction tabard |
| 7 | Knight-Lieutenant | Blood Guard | Faction battle standard |
| 8 | Knight-Captain | Legionnaire | Epic bracer and belt upgrades |
| 9 | Knight-Champion | Centurion | Epic boot upgrade |
| 10 | Lieutenant Commander | Champion | Epic glove upgrade |
| 11 | Commander | Lieutenant General | Black War mounts |
| 12 | Marshal | General | Epic leg and shoulder upgrades |
| 13 | Field Marshal | Warlord | Epic helm and chest upgrades |
| 14 | Grand Marshal | High Warlord | Epic PvP weapons |

Mount collectors can focus on Rank 11. Players pursuing armor upgrades have several useful milestones between Ranks 8 and 13, while epic weapons sit at the final rank. Choose a target that fits the time you can commit each week.
Seasonal Tasks Also Award Legacy Points
Each PvP season includes a journey with weekly tasks that award Honor and Rank Points. Three tasks per season also award a Legacy Point each.
Blizzard says those Legacy-related tasks remain available in future seasons. That gives returning players an opportunity to complete them later. The announcement does not provide a complete season calendar or detailed reset rules.
Where to Check Your Progress
Open the Character Pane and select the Player vs. Player tab. It displays your rank, Rank Points and the purchases available at your current standing. Check it before a longer farming session so your next goal is clear.
Darkspear Islands Adds a New Battleground
Forever also introduces Darkspear Islands, a 15v15 battleground for levels 30–60. Teams control four capture points and fight over a central flag, which can be delivered to a friendly controlled base for additional points. The first team to reach 2,000 points wins.

The battleground has separate reputation factions: the Darkspear Raiders for Horde players and the Theramore Expeditionary Force for Alliance players. Their vendors offer equipment and consumables, while Exalted unlocks a short questline for a faction tabard.
You can queue through a capital-city battlemaster or visit your faction's base in the Barrens. This creates another progression route alongside the general PvP rank ladder, particularly for players interested in reputation rewards.
