Ritual Sites Guide — WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.5

Ritual Sites Guide — WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.5

Ritual Sites are one of the most substantial new additions in Patch 12.0.5. Think of them as bite-sized Delves set in locations like Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman — instanced content where you disrupt dark rituals, climb difficulty tiers, and customize your run with Challenges that ramp up both the difficulty and your rewards. They count toward the Great Vault's World content row, drop Field Accolades for gear purchases, and have their own Renown track with mounts at the end of it. If you're looking to fill your weekly Vault outside of raids and Mythic+, this is your primary path.

What Are Ritual Sites?

Put a stop to rituals meant to empower the ambitions of power-hungry naga and Twilight's Blade cultists in small one to five player instances.

Ritual Sites is a new customizable instanced activity that has difficulty tiers and modifiers you can add. The more challenges you add to your run, the more rewards you get at the end. Another reason it can be compared to Delves is that Ritual Sites count towards the World row of the Great Vault, much like Delves and Prey.

Ritual Sites work very similarly to Horrific Visions and Delves. The content can be done solo or in groups of up to 5 players.

Locations

Two Ritual Sites are available in Patch 12.0.5, rotating on a weekly schedule — only one is active at any given time:

Daggerspine Point Ritual Site — Eversong Woods /way 34.9 65.4

Broken Throne Ritual Site — Zul'Aman /way 29.7 78.2

The active location each week is marked on your in-game map with a special icon. Each week the tier requirement will be one lower as players learn more about the rituals. This will allow all players to unlock the bonuses in the lower levels over time.

How to Unlock Ritual Sites

To unlock Ritual Sites, you need to first complete a few quests from the Void Assaults hub above the Silvermoon Alchemy and Enchants Enhanced shop in the Bazaar area of Silvermoon. The first quest is called Void Strike, picked up from Ranger Captain Lilathra, and requires you to complete a Void Strike wherever it is active.

Before you can earn Renown or access the full Ritual Sites feature loop, you must complete the introductory quest chain beginning with Ranger Captain's Summons. This priority quest chain is the entry point into the entire Ritual Sites Renown system. Once you have accepted and completed the chain, the Ritual Sites Renown track activates. The repeatable weekly meta-quest Midnight: Ritual Sites will also become available and awards a Spark of Radiance upon completion.

Tier System

As you progress through Ritual Sites, you can choose your level of challenge from Tiers 1 through 5. Players must complete each Tier before unlocking the next.

Higher tiers unlock better rewards, but require you to have previously completed lower tiers and unlocked the required challenge modifiers. The item level recommendation shown in the UI for Tier 5 is item level 264.

The Challenge System — How Spoils Work

Challenges are what set Ritual Sites apart from standard instanced content. This is the system that makes the activity deeply customizable rather than just another linear progression grind.

Challenges are affixes that ramp up both the difficulty and your rewards. Challenges unlock starting at Tier 3 and boost Spoils — the site's reward multiplier — leading to more gear, Renown, currency, mounts, pets, and more.

Challenges increase difficulty by imposing penalties or modifiers, in exchange for a "spoils modifier" increasing the amount of subsequent rewards. Higher difficulty tiers require more active challenges. Unlike Mythic+ affixes, players are given full control over what challenges they wish to face, allowing them to customize the run to suit their character.

The challenge modifiers stack additively. Reinforced is the obvious math winner at +25%, and combining it with https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278772/malevolent-boons (+15%) and https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278786/manifestations (+15%) gives a respectable 55% additional Spoils on a Tier 3 run.

At Tier 5 with all challenges selected, you're looking at up to +75% bonus Spoils if you stack https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278780/embers, https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278772/malevolent-boons, and two 15% modifiers.

Death Penalty

Your first 2 deaths are free. After that, each death cuts your Spoils by 5%, maxing out at -50%. Chain-dying at the end of a run will significantly reduce your rewards.

Best Challenges to Pick

https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278786/manifestations — Top recommendation. Powerful spirits spawn and channel a 10-second cast. Interrupt, stun, or run away from the circle. It looks frightening but is highly manageable. (+15% Spoils)

https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1282739/tainted-corpses — Great for ranged players. Pools spawn on death — stay back and you barely notice it. Melee need to dodge when multiple mobs die simultaneously. (+10% Spoils)

https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278780/embers — Strong reward value tied to this challenge. Highly recommended if you're comfortable with the base difficulty. (+15% Spoils)

https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278772/malevolent-boons — High Spoils modifier, pairs well with any combination. (+15% Spoils)

https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278771/tendrils — Solid baseline pick for filling the required challenge slots at Tier 3 and 4.

How a Run Works

Once you enter the Ritual Site you will have objectives to defeat enemies marked on your map. Doing this progresses you to Stage 2, which is to defeat a mini-boss. Once that is complete you move on to the boss for the Ritual Site. After you defeat the boss you receive a chest with Field Accolades and rewards.

The level of challenge you undertake and how well you succeed will impact the amount of rewards you get. You can keep track of your Spoils and Deaths throughout the site within the User Interface as you progress through the instance.

Currencies — Field Accolades and Dark Particles

The two main currencies tied to Ritual Sites are https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278772/malevolent-boons and Dark Particles. https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278772/malevolent-boons are the main reward currency and are earned from Ritual Sites, Void Assaults, and weekly quests tied to the system. Dark Particles also drop during Ritual Sites and can be traded in for more https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1278772/malevolent-boons through Maren Silverwing in Silvermoon City. The exchange works through a Field Accolade Pouch — 100 Dark Particles gives 10 Field Accolades.

Where to spend:

Maren Silverwing at 48.2, 49.6 in Silvermoon City handles the main Field Accolades gear exchange. This is where you spend your currency on random https://www.wowhead.com/item=263928/cache-of-void-touched-armaments (ilvl 250–263) and https://www.wowhead.com/item=263929/cache-of-void-touched-armaments (ilvl 259–276) gear caches. The Armaments caches are spec-appropriate, making them much safer purchases than the cosmetic Void Tier 2 cache system.

Field Accolades and Voidlight Marl can be spent at several new vendors found on the second level of The Bazaar in Silvermoon City. You will also find Lady Darkglen, Rae'ana, Ranger Captain Lilatha, and Kul'amara the Fierce in this location for quest turn-ins or to pick up new quests.

Rewards

Gear

Players will earn Field Accolades from Ritual Sites as currency to purchase Champion and Heroic quality gear. Champion gear starts at 75 Field Accolades per https://www.wowhead.com/item=263928/cache-of-void-touched-armaments — accessible after a single good session. Heroic gear at 500 https://www.wowhead.com/item=263929/cache-of-void-touched-armaments Accolades is realistic after one to two weeks of consistent play.

Great Vault Progress

Completed Ritual Sites contribute to your World Events row of the Great Vault, rewarding up to Hero Track gear. This makes Ritual Sites the most efficient source of World content Vault credit alongside Delves and Prey Hunts.

Renown Track — 8 Ranks

Ritual Sites have a dedicated Renown track with 8 tiers, each granting progressively more useful, more expensive-looking, or more mount-shaped rewards. The corrupted mounts at Rank 8 are the main long-term goal.

You will need to earn Renown Rank 3 with Ritual Sites to purchase most Housing Decor items along with Voidlight Marl. The Dark Obelisk requires Renown Rank 7 to purchase.

Mounts, Pets, and Cosmetics

Ritual Sites have a large variety of rewards — by progressing the Renown track or by completing tasks within a Ritual Site to earn Field Accolades or unlock hidden mounts and pets.
