WoW Midnight Patch 12.0.5 — Void Tier 2 Armor: All Class Appearances
Patch 12.0.5 brings back the iconic Tier 2 sets in a brand new color — this time soaked in Void energy. Among the features on the PTR, one reveal has caught plenty of attention: yet another recolor of the 20th Anniversary Tier 2 sets. This time, the classic armor returns with a purple Void-themed twist, designed to match the new Void Assaults event where the sets are obtained. This marks the third color variant released since the anniversary revamp debuted.
What Is the Void Tier 2 Armor?
Coming in Patch 12.0.5, Void Assaults are a new rotating world event where the Void launches attacks on Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman. By taking part in these assaults, players can earn the Void variant of the remastered Tier 2 sets.
These are purely cosmetic transmog appearances — they carry no stats or set bonuses. The Void recolor is the third version of the revamped Tier 2 sets, following the original 20th Anniversary remaster and a previous color variant. The deep purple and black Void palette fits the Midnight expansion's visual identity and matches the aesthetic of the new world event content.
How to Obtain — Field Accolades and Randomized Caches

This is where things get controversial. These items are sold by Triam Dawnsetter for Field Accolades, but there's a catch. Instead of being sold directly, the armor sets are sold in caches, randomized by armor slot. Without the ability to target appearances for specific classes, it could cost up to 11,900 Field Accolades to complete a specific set. This becomes problematic for those who only want a specific class set.
In practice: each box on PTR contains one appearance among those you have not yet earned. The system prevents duplicate appearances — you won't buy the same piece twice — but you also can't choose which class set drops from each cache. If you play a Warlock and want Warlock Tier 2 pieces specifically, you may receive Paladin or Rogue appearances first.
Field Accolades are earned from both Void Assaults and Ritual Sites — the two main new outdoor activities added in 12.0.5. They can also be spent on Champion and Heroic quality gear, so the currency has value beyond cosmetics. The grind for specific class appearances depends entirely on how quickly you can accumulate Field Accolades week over week.
