Decor Duel — Complete Guide & All Rewards
Decorator's Duel is the most unexpected addition in Patch 12.0.5 — a 14-player hide-and-seek PvP mode set in Silvermoon City, built directly on top of Midnight's housing decor system. One team transforms into furniture and blends into the environment. The other team hunts them down. No damage, no health bars, no tanks or healers — just seven players trying not to look like a suspicious bookshelf while seven others search every corner of the room. It's the lightest content in the patch and one of the most genuinely entertaining things Blizzard has shipped in years.
How to Queue
Open the Group Finder menu with the I key and switch to the PvP tab. Under Quick Matches you will see the Decorator's Duel mode listed alongside the standard PvP options.

When signing up you can pick any role or every role available to your class — it has no impact inside the activity itself. Role selection only affects queue placement.
Queue tip: If your class has a healing specialization, select that role during registration as well. It noticeably speeds up queue times.
Match Structure
A match is played by 14 players split into 2 teams at random. One team hides while the other seeks. After the round ends, the teams swap sides.
A match consists of 2 rounds, each lasting 3 minutes. There is also a 1-minute preparation window for the hiding team to pick their form and take up a convenient spot.

Scoring
At the end of a round, every player who is found gives the seekers 1 point, while every player who stays hidden earns the hiders 1 point. The winner is decided by the total score across both rounds.
If the scores are tied, the winner is determined by how long each team managed to stay hidden. For example, if you were found after 2 minutes of searching while your teammates were found after 1 minute — in total, you stayed hidden for 8 minutes. If the opposing team's total hiding time is greater, they win.
Hider Mechanics
The hiding team is transformed into a random piece of decor and must blend into the surrounding props to look as natural as possible.

Hider Abilities
Your goal is to avoid being detected by the seekers for as long as possible, and for that you have 6 different abilities:
https://www.wowhead.com/ptr/spell=1256125/disguise — Changes your appearance into a different piece of decor. Use this when you suspect a seeker is moving toward your position.
https://www.wowhead.com/ptr/spell=1264545/swap — Swaps you and a random piece of decor within 18 yards. An escape tool when seekers get too close — you teleport away and leave a real prop in your place.
https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1258362/trap-song-bird — you place a decoy songbird that whistles periodically, passing itself off as a player.
https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1256050/trap-sands-of-time — you create a zone that slows other players' movement and applies a debuff that slows the flow of time on them.
https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1257798/trap-void-sphere — you place an orb that can launch you 30 yd. forward and push a seeker 20 yd. back.
https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1257549/trap-smoke-mirrors — the trap sends out several decor decoys that scatter in different directions and changes your appearance into a different piece of decor.
https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1256171/eccentro-magic-pulse — stuns nearby seekers and changes your appearance.
https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1287507/make-decoy — you can create a decoy that takes on your appearance.
Best trap pick: Songbird is strong for wasting seeker time — a well-placed fake whistle source pulls an entire seeker team to the wrong area. Smoke Screen is the best panic button when discovered mid-round.
Seeker Mechanics
The seekers' job is to spot suspicious pieces of decor using various abilities and apply Tag! to them so the player is eliminated from the match.
At the start of the round, seekers can pick one of three roles, each with its own set of special abilities:
Arcane Tracker
Best for methodical area coverage and passive detection.
| Ability |
Effect |
Dispels illusions in an area, revealing players who cast them |
| https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1256863/clockwork-sentinel |
Places a 30-sec sentinel that detects targets in its zone and slows them |
| https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1257345/stealth |
Makes you invisible but reduces movement speed by 30% |
Disruptor
Best for aggressive pushes and team coordination.
| Ability |
Effect |
Dispels illusions directly in front of you and marks revealed players |
| https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1256010/nullification-field |
Dispels illusions across a wider area, revealing multiple hiders at once |
| https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1256011/riftwalk |
Short-range teleport for repositioning |
Spellbreaker
Best for sweeping large rooms and catching hiders in the open.
| Ability |
Effect |
Channels for 2.5 sec, dispelling illusions in a forward cone |
| https://www.wowhead.com/spell=1256861/dispelling-leap |
Leaps to a target location, dispelling illusions of all hiders in the landing area |
Role recommendation: Disruptor is the strongest seeker role for organized play — Neutralization Field clears entire rooms and Rift Travel lets you chase down hiders that break cover. Spellbreaker's Dispelling Leap is the highest single-moment impact ability in the mode when used in a crowd.
Tips for Hiders
Never stay completely still. The fly mechanic punishes stationary hiders — move slightly every 15–20 seconds to reset the buildup timer without drawing attention.
Position near real decor clusters. Isolated props are suspicious by default. A player-chair sitting in the middle of an empty hallway gets checked immediately. Blend into shelves, tables, and grouped objects.
Save Eccentromagical Pulse for emergencies. The stun combined with an automatic appearance change is your most powerful escape tool. Don't waste it preemptively — use it when a seeker is actively checking your location.
Use Swap to create false trails. Swap drops you at a nearby prop's location while leaving a real prop where you stood. Seekers who saw your position will check the prop you left behind while you're already somewhere else.
Pick Songbird trap on round start. Place it in a high-traffic area far from your actual position. The periodic whistle pulls seekers to the wrong zone for the first two minutes of the round.
Tips for Seekers
Flies don't lie. If you see flies hovering over a piece of decor, that's a player — no exceptions. Check the interaction immediately before they use Disguise to escape.
Listen for whistles before committing to an area. Whistle audio narrows the hider's position before you spend movement searching. Use the 1-minute prep window to learn the layout so you can route efficiently once the round starts.
Mechanical Sentinel placement wins rounds. As Arcane Tracker, a well-positioned sentinel in a chokepoint or narrow corridor will catch multiple hiders passively without consuming your own cooldowns.
Coordinate Dispelling Leap in groups. As Spellbreaker, landing a leap in a tight room can reveal three or four hiders at once. Communicate with teammates before using it so everyone is in position to apply Tag! before hiders recover.
Don't waste time on confirmed real props. Mark checked objects mentally and move on — re-examining real furniture costs time the hiders are using to reposition.
Rewards
For participating you will earn a special currency — https://www.wowhead.com/currency=3393/illusionary-coin. The better you and your team perform across both rounds, the more currency you can earn.
https://www.wowhead.com/currency=3393/illusionary-coin can be exchanged for rewards from https://www.wowhead.com/npc=256084/gamesmaster-fleurian in Silvermoon City.
Mount
You can pick up the unique mount https://www.wowhead.com/item=268481/magisters-spell-bee-comb for 500 https://www.wowhead.com/currency=3393/illusionary-coin. This is the primary long-term reward and the main reason to grind matches consistently through the patch cycle.
