WoW Patch 12.1.7 Adds Two New Omnium Folio Runes

WoW Patch 12.1.7 Adds Two New Omnium Folio Runes

The Omnium Folio is getting another upgrade in Patch 12.1.7: Echoes of the Worldcore. Two new runes will expand its talent tree, giving players stronger secondary stat bonuses and additional damage or healing effects.

Players will also be able to earn two additional Motes of Omnial Inquiry through new quests connected to the update. Here's what each rune does and how you'll be able to unlock it.

Omnium Folio: What's New?

Rune of Empowerment: Increases the secondary stats provided by your chosen stat rune.

Rune of Critical Mass: Gives your Core Rune a chance to trigger an additional effect.

Two New Motes: Earn additional points through new quests from Grand Magister Rommath.

Rune of Empowerment: Stronger Secondary Stats

Rune of Empowerment improves the secondary stat granted by your selected Omnium Folio stat rune by 20%.

It affects all four stat rune options:

Stat Rune	Secondary Stat
Rune of Critical Power	Critical Strike
Rune of Burning Haste	Haste
Rune of Masterful Cunning	Mastery
Rune of the Versatile Warrior	Versatility

How the 20% Bonus Works

The increase applies to the stat granted by your rune, not to your character's entire secondary stat. For example, a rune granting 100 stat rating would grant 120 with Rune of Empowerment.

The upgrade applies regardless of which of the four stat runes you choose. Your best option will still depend on your specialization, equipment and the content you're playing.

Rune of Critical Mass: New Core Rune Effects

Rune of Critical Mass enhances your selected Core Rune. When the Core Rune deals damage or healing, it has a chance to trigger an additional effect.

The result depends on which Core Rune you're using:

Core Rune	Critical Mass Effect	Radius
Rune of Unleashed Fire	A blast deals Fire damage split among enemies or healing split among allies.	10 yards
Rune of Void-Touched Orbs	Three orbs fall, dealing Void damage to enemies or healing allies.	5 yards

Rune of Unleashed Fire

With Rune of Unleashed Fire selected, Critical Mass can create an additional blast when your Core Rune deals damage or healing.

The blast affects targets within 10 yards, splitting its Fire damage among enemies or its healing among allies in range.

Rune of Void-Touched Orbs

If you're using Rune of Void-Touched Orbs, the new talent can call down three additional orbs. These deal Void damage to enemies or restore health to allies within 5 yards.

Both versions are chance-based. The final tuning and trigger frequency may change during PTR testing.

How to Earn the Two New Motes of Omnial Inquiry

The expanded Folio tree also comes with two additional Motes of Omnial Inquiry. According to the current PTR quests, players will obtain them by helping Grand Magister Rommath investigate different sources of knowledge.

1. Help the Coreway Expedition

Seeking Knowledge: Core Logic sends players to assist the expedition connected to the Coreway and recover a Coreway Rune Fragment.

This objective is tied to the new The Return to Dornogal storyline, where players join familiar characters to investigate how to reach the Worldcore.

2. Complete Activities or Play Talebound

The second new Seeking Knowledge quest offers another way to earn a Mote.

Current PTR information points to a choice of max-level activities, including world quests, delves, dungeons, raids and battlegrounds. Progress can also be earned through Talebound, the new mode arriving with Patch 12.1.7.

That gives players the option to work toward the second upgrade through their preferred activities rather than relying on a single type of content.

What Do the New Runes Mean for Your Build?

The two additions improve different parts of the Folio. Rune of Empowerment strengthens a stat bonus you already have, while Rune of Critical Mass adds another chance-based effect to your Core Rune.

Damage dealers, healers and tanks can all benefit from the expanded tree, but the value of individual rune choices will still vary by specialization and encounter. Once the patch is live, check updated class guides or simulations before changing a build that already works for you.

If you haven't completed the existing Omnium Folio progression yet, working through the earlier quests before Patch 12.1.7 is a useful way to prepare for the new additions.
