Twilight Ascension Pre-Patch Event Guide

INTRODUCTION

Midnight is fast approaching! Come January 27th Xal'atath's forces start gathering in the twilight highlands to take us out in this pre-patch event, Twilight Ascension. Join together with Magister Umbric and Grand Magister Rommath to push them back and level up, get catch up gear, decor, and other sweet rewards before Midnight launches on March 3rd. Important note is that this event much like previous ones, can be done at any level starting at level 10! GETTING STARTED

Once you log in while the event is live, a quest will pop up for you from Magister Umbric for the Alliance and Grand Magister Rommath for the horde. You must meet up with your faction representive in each respective main capital city of Stormwind or Orgrimmar. Following along with this short questline will quickly get you to the Twilight Highlands unlocking the hub for this event. Once you complete the quest chain you can participate in other activities this event offers to gain currency.

TWILIGHT ASCENSION ACTIVITIES

Once you completed the introductionary questline, you will have access to a few options of what to do to gain a new currency for this pre-patch  Twilight's Blade Insignia.

WEEKLY QUESTS

At the event hub area you can pick up two weekly quests that are account bound. One quest named Disrupt the Call is to kill 3 rares from the event. The other named Twilight's Dawn has you do a combination of 8 world quests in the area and/or kill rares. Completeting each of these weekly quests will give you a hefty chunk of 40  Twilight's Blade Insignia to purchase the many goodies available. Make sure to pick up each of them before starting the other activities!

WORLD QUESTS

Located within the Twilight Highlands are a handful of world quests. The first time you complete any of these world quest on your account you will recieve 10    Twilight's Blade Insignia as a reward. If you do the same world quest on any alts, you will instead recieve 20  Resonance Crystals as your reward. These quests rotate pretty regularly and are up for about 3 days, so make sure not to miss out on any of these for their lucrative first time rewards!

RARES

Finally we have the most repeatable source of the pre-patch currency, rare spawn events. Rotating every 10 minutes and indicated by a silver dragon border star on your minimap, you can join other players in doing these. Arriving at the location you will have a fill the bar objective to stop the ritual. Killing cultists and interacting with objects in the area will fill up this bar to 100%, at which point the rare for the area will spawn. Rares will drop some  Resonance Crystals , 1    Twilight's Blade Insignia, as well as a chance at some champion level gear. These rare spawns are very high health elites that deal lots of damage so make sure to take them on with fellow players for an easier time.

Each rare spawn location will have ephemeral void orbs in the area that are interactable. Clicking enough of those will fill a secondary bar at a specified location and then spawn an additional rare called the Voice of the Eclipse. This rare has the exact same drops as the other rare spawns for the area. With enough people interacting with the void orbs, each rare spawn location will offer 2 rares instead of just one so make sure to do your part and help the cause!

ACHIEVEMENTS

There are two feat of strength achievements related to this event, and notably attached to one of them is a mount reward and a title. Killing every rare spawn possible will award you with the   Two Minutes to Midnight achievment which gives you the Thorn of Twilight title and  Light-Forged Mechsuit mount. With rare spawns on a 10 minute timer and 19 rare spawns to kill, this achievement will take a bit of time but should be no problem for those dedicated over the course of the month.

The other feat of strength only awards the achievement  Crunching for Cultists and requires you to win 50 times at the Twilight's Blade Stratagem Game. This game can be played at the event hub in Twilights Highlands on either side of the camp by interacting with the Stolen Twilight's Blade Stratagem, or using the toy that can be purchased from the rewards vendor. The game is the classic game of Tic Tac Toe, pick your faction and ready up for a long session of strategy to earn this feat of strength.

TWILIGHT ASCENSION EVENT REWARDS

Using your  Twilight's Blade Insignia currency you can pick up a plethora of rewards. These rewards are on two different vendors located at the event hub in Twilight Highlands, Materialist Ophinell and Armorer Kalinovan. All rewards are listed in the tables below, notable rewards are champion level catch up gear, new transmog armor and weapons, a mount, pets, decor, and a toy! Additonally there is a title and mount reward related to an achievment for killing every rare spawn which is shown below. It is expected that these items will not return after the event ends, so make sure to pick up everything you want before it goes away!
