Temple of Sethraliss Dungeon Guide: Bosses, Mythic+ Strategy, Loot and Rewards

Temple of Sethraliss is a returning Battle for Azeroth dungeon featured in the Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ rotation. The dungeon is located in Vol'dun and uses a 33-minute Mythic+ timer.

The dungeon has four bosses, heavy Nature and Shadow damage, snake add control, beam soaking, orb handling, and a final encounter where the group must restore the Avatar of Sethraliss instead of simply killing a boss. Groups need assigned interrupts, poison and curse dispels, careful knockback positioning, and clean healing-phase execution.

Boss Strategy

Adderis and Aspix Strategy

Adderis and Aspix are the first boss encounter and were reworked for Midnight Season 2. The key mechanic is Storm Blessed, which makes one boss take massively reduced damage. Swap targets when the blessing moves so your group does not waste damage into the protected boss.

Gale Force pushes players away, so spread around the boss and avoid getting knocked into bad positions. Tempest Winds should be dropped away from the group because it leaves silence zones on the ground.

Thunder and Lightning is a group soak followed by an AoE hit. Stack to split the first hit, then move out before the follow-up thunder lands.

Merektha Strategy

Merektha is the snake and add-control boss of Temple of Sethraliss. Interrupt Poison Spit whenever possible, then dispel poison effects if a cast slips through.

On Mythic and Mythic+, A Knot of Snakes stuns a player until the snakes are destroyed or crowd controlled. Group up on the affected player so AoE CC can break the mechanic quickly.

Merektha also uses Thunder Spit, Hatch, and Burrow. Keep moving during Thunder Spit, kill hatch adds before they overwhelm the healer, and dodge the Burrow path across the room.

Galvazzt Strategy

Galvazzt is a beam-soaking boss. When Lightning Spire appears, players need to stand between the spires and Galvazzt to stop him from gaining energy.

Soaking applies Galvanized, which deals damage and increases Physical damage taken, so tanks should avoid soaking unless the group has no other option. Rotate players through beams rather than letting one person take every soak.

Move Galvazzt out of Induction fields quickly. If Galvazzt reaches full energy, he can unleash Consume Charge, which damages the group and makes the fight much harder.

Avatar of Sethraliss Strategy

Avatar of Sethraliss is not a normal burn phase. The encounter ends when the Avatar is restored to full health, so the group must kill enemies, cleanse orbs, and protect the healer from pressure.

Kill Essence Defilers to remove Defiling Taint, which prevents external healing. When Corrupted Guardians die, DPS players should soak Corrupted Lifeforce orbs. These soaks increase healing done but also increase Physical damage taken, so tanks should avoid them.

Place Latent Hex away from the group, AoE down Faithless Tormentors, and let the Avatar consume low-health adds through Siphon the Weak. The faster your group handles adds cleanly, the faster the Avatar can be restored.

Trash Tips for Mythic+

  • Pull extra trash intentionally. Wowhead notes that groups need a decent amount of extra trash in Temple of Sethraliss to reach Enemy Forces count.
  • Watch knockbacks on the first boss. Adderis and Aspix can push players far, and a group soak can follow soon after.
  • Treat Sand-Sworn Riders as dangerous. They can summon extra adds and apply random bleed pressure.
  • Use AoE CC on Merektha. A Knot of Snakes is easier when the group stacks near the target and breaks the stun together.
  • Control Temple Disruptors near the orb event. They only try to channel on the Eye of Sethraliss while the orb is active, so CC can save a lot of time.
