Windrunner Spire Mythic+ Guide — WoW Midnight Season 1

Windrunner Spire Mythic+ Guide — WoW Midnight Season 1

WoW Midnight · Season 1 · Mythic+ · New Midnight Dungeon · 33:30 Timer

Windrunner Spire is a new dungeon introduced in the Midnight expansion, set in the Eternal Spring Forest zone. The dungeon explores Sylvanas Windrunner's past, as the banshee Kalis and her fanatical followers have come to the Spire in search of relics tied to the Dark Lady. Four bosses in order: Emberdawn → Derelict Duo → Commander Kroluk → The Restless Heart.

Key Interrupts & Dispels

Key Interrupts:

  • Poison Blades — Ardent Cutthroat
  • Chain Lightning — Phantasmal Mystic
  • Fire Spit — Territorial Dragonhawk

Key Dispels:

  • Soul Torment — Restless Steward
  • Poison Spray — Creeping Spindleweb
  • Poison Blades — Ardent Cutthroat
  • Curse of Darkness — Derelict Duo
  • Throw Axe — Spectral Axethrower

Boss 1 — Emberdawn

Emberdawn is a territorial hawk who settled in the gardens of Windrunner Spire to raise her young. The fight revolves entirely around managing the fire zones left by Flaming Updraft — they persist permanently on the ground and spawn Flaming Twisters during Burning Gale. The group's primary task is stacking all fire zones into one designated area, keeping the rest of the arena clear for movement.

Abilities

Burning Gale — Emberdawn conjures a flaming windstorm that pushes all players and inflicts 4 Fire damage every 1 sec for 16 sec. On Mythic difficulty, she also unleashes multiple Fire Breaths while channeling.

Flaming Updraft — Emberdawn spits fire at a player, inflicting 5 Fire damage every 1 sec for 6 sec. Upon expiration, the mark explodes and leaves a fiery patch on the ground that inflicts 15 Fire damage every 1.5 sec to players within it. The patch's central updraft knocks players away and periodically ejects Flaming Twisters. On Mythic+, this targets an additional player.

Flaming Twisters — Reacting to the winds from Burning Gale, fiery tornadoes erupt from existing patches, inflicting 25 Fire damage and stunning players for 2 sec before tossing them away.

Searing Beak — Emberdawn pecks her current target, inflicting 254,226 Physical damage and an additional 10 Fire damage every 1 sec for 8 sec.

Role Strategy

Tanks: Use a defensive on every Searing Beak — the bleed that follows puts significant pressure on your healer. If your class has a bleed dispel or immunity, use it to ease recovery.

Healers: The bulk of incoming damage arrives during Burning Gale. Save a major cooldown for it. Outside of Gale, focus on keeping the tank stable through the bleed from Searing Beak.

DPS: When Flaming Updraft is placed on you, immediately walk it to the pre-designated stacking zone — typically a corner or the edge of the arena. Never drop patches in the center: twisters spawning from central patches during Burning Gale will cover the entire arena. During Burning Gale itself, use personal defensives, dodge twisters, and stay in the clean half of the arena.

Boss Tips

  • Place Flaming Updrafts on the edges of the room.
  • During Burning Gale, use defensives and dodge the tornadoes and frontal cones.

Boss 2 — Derelict Duo

A dual-target fight featuring the banshee Kalis and her abomination Latch. The core mechanic requires using Latch's hook (Heaving Yank) to interrupt Kalis's channel (Debilitating Shriek). When Latch reaches 100 energy, he throws a hook toward the marked player, hitting the first target in his path. The marked player must position so that only Kalis stands between them and Latch — the hook will intercept her, immediately interrupting Shriek. Both bosses must die close together: the survivor gains Broken Bond and rapidly escalates in damage.

Abilities

Broken Bond — When either Kalis or Latch falls in battle, the other becomes incensed, increasing their damage done by 50% every 5 sec until they are killed.

Kalis — Debilitating Shriek — Kalis releases piercing shrieks, inflicting 23,111 Shadow damage to all players every 2 sec and increasing their damage taken from Debilitating Shriek by 30% for 3 sec. This effect stacks. Interrupted by Latch's Heaving Yank.

Kalis — Curse of Darkness (Mythic+/Mythic) — Kalis curses a player, causing a Dark Entity to fixate upon them for 12 sec. Dispelable (magic).

Kalis — Shadowbolt — A single-target shot at a player inflicting 55,467 Shadow damage. Can be interrupted.

Latch — Heaving Yank — Latch hooks a player inward, following up with Heaving Chop. If the hook hits Kalis instead, she is yanked, interrupting Debilitating Shriek.

Latch — Heaving Chop — Latch strikes the hooked target, inflicting 300,448 Physical damage and stunning them for 6 sec.

Latch — Splattering Spew — Latch spews bile onto players, inflicting 11 Nature damage within 5 yards and an additional 3 Nature damage every 1 sec for 10 sec (stacks). Leaves a Gunk Splatter at the impact location.

Gunk Splatter — A bile pool inflicting 69,334 Nature damage every 1.5 sec and increasing damage taken from Splattering Spew by 100%. On Mythic difficulty, the pool grows over time.

Latch — Bone Hack — Latch chops his current target, inflicting 184,891 Physical damage every 0.8 sec for 3 sec.

Role Strategy

Tanks: Bone Hack deals enormous damage in a very short window. Use a personal defensive on every cast and communicate it to your healer. Keep both bosses close together so the group can maintain cleave damage on both simultaneously.

Healers: The primary threat is Debilitating Shriek when stacks go unchecked. If the group misses interrupts repeatedly, incoming damage escalates beyond recovery quickly. Prioritize dispelling Curse of Darkness immediately. Support the tank aggressively during Bone Hack.

DPS: Positioning during Heaving Yank is the most important individual responsibility. When marked, stand in a straight line: Latch → Kalis → you. The hook flies through Kalis, interrupts Shriek, and avoids triggering Heaving Chop on the player. Immediately leave Gunk Splatter pools — standing in a pool with accumulated Splattering Spew stacks is lethal. Balance damage between both bosses throughout the fight and kill them simultaneously.

Boss Tips

  • Defeat the bosses at the same time.
  • Place Splattering Spew near the edges of the area, and move the bosses to open areas.
  • When targeted by Heaving Yank, walk behind the boss casting Debilitating Shriek to interrupt it.

Boss 3 — Commander Kroluk

A spirit from the Second War, Kroluk's fight alternates between two opposing positioning demands: the group must stack during Intimidating Shout and spread during Reckless Leap. At 66% and 33% health, Kroluk howls Rallying Bellow, summoning a warparty and raising Shield Wall — reducing all incoming damage by 99% until every summoned mob dies. Bladestorm activates simultaneously, chasing a target through the group.

Abilities

Rallying Bellow — Kroluk unleashes a warcry, inflicting 20 Physical damage to all players and summoning a warparty to fight alongside him. While the warparty lives, Kroluk maintains Shield Wall and enters Bladestorm. On Mythic+, the warparty includes Phantasmal Mystics.

Bladestorm — Kroluk fixates on a player, inflicting 15 Physical damage every 1 sec to all players within 7 yards. Continues until the warparty is defeated.

Shield Wall — Kroluk fortifies himself, reducing all damage taken by 99%.

Spectral Axethrower — Throw Axe — Throws an axe at a player, inflicting 36,978 Physical damage and causing them to bleed for 18,489 Physical damage every 1 sec for 6 sec. Dispelable.

Haunting Grunt — Intercepting Charge — Charges the current target, inflicting 55,467 Physical damage.

Phantasmal Mystic — Chain Lightning (Mythic) — Sends lightning into a player, inflicting 55,467 Nature damage that jumps to the nearest ally. Must be interrupted.

Phantasmal Mystic — Flame Nova (Mythic) — Unleashes a nova of flame, inflicting 69,334 Fire damage to all players within 100 yards.

Rampage — Kroluk focuses his destructive urge on his current target, thrashing them to inflict 92,446 Physical damage every 0.5 sec for 5 sec.

Reckless Leap — Kroluk recklessly leaps toward the farthest player, inflicting 15 Physical damage and an additional 5 Physical damage every 1 sec for 12 sec to all players within the impact area. Performed multiple times in sequence.

Intimidating Shout (Mythic) — Kroluk unleashes a deafening roar, causing any players standing alone to run in fear and suffer 10 Shadow damage every 1 sec for 5 sec.

Role Strategy

Tanks: Rampage is your personal defensive priority every time — the damage output per second is extremely high and brief. After Rallying Bellow, summoned mobs will immediately aggro nearby targets. Group them tightly for fast AoE cleave.

Healers: Reckless Leap applies a bleed to multiple players simultaneously — keep the affected players near full health before each leap sequence. If your class can dispel bleeds, use it to ease the load. Support the tank heavily during Rampage.

DPS: On Intimidating Shout (Mythic), immediately move toward the nearest ally — proximity removes the debuff. Spread again afterward to avoid stacking damage during Reckless Leap. For the leap itself: one player soaks the first jump, the tank runs away to absorb the second. During the warparty phase, interrupt Chain Lightning on cooldown and burn Phantasmal Mystics first. Do not use offensive cooldowns during Bladestorm — save them for when the boss becomes vulnerable again.

Boss Tips

  • During Intimidating Shout, stack with other allies to avoid getting feared.
  • Focus the adds when summoned, as the boss takes 99% less damage until they die.

Boss 4 — The Restless Heart

The final boss and the most mechanically layered fight in the dungeon. Born from the grief of three sisters, the Restless Heart binds Windrunner spirits to the Spire. The fight revolves around Arrow Rain zones — small white portals left on the ground by landing arrows. Jumping into a zone launches the player upward, clearing all persistent negative effects and allowing them to fly over the expanding Billowing Wind ring from Bullseye Windblast. These zones are a shared group resource and must never be wasted.

Abilities

Bullseye Windblast — The Restless Heart fires an arrow toward a location, inflicting 184,891 Nature damage to players within 20 yards of impact and forming Billowing Wind.

Billowing Wind — A ring of violent wind expands outward, inflicting 115,557 Nature damage every 1 sec to players hit for 12 sec, increasing Physical damage taken by 100% and slowing movement speed by 35%. The only way to cross the ring is by jumping into an Arrow Rain zone.

Arrow Rain — The Restless Heart shoots a rain of arrows, inflicting 25 Nature damage within 2.5 yards of each impact and forming Turbulent Arrows at each landing point.

Turbulent Arrows — Upon contact, the windy arrow knocks the player upwards, inflicting 46,223 Nature damage and an additional 13,867 Nature damage every 1 sec for 5 sec.

Bolt Gale — The Restless Heart fires an arrow volley at a player, inflicting 6 Nature damage to players in a frontal cone. The cone tracks its target — the targeted player must stand still to prevent the cone from sweeping through allies.

Gust Strike — The Restless Heart knocks away its target, inflicting 254,226 Physical damage and increasing their damage taken by 100% for 4 sec. Followed immediately by Gust Shot.

Gust Shot (Mythic) — Arrows are shot into players and explode after 5 sec, inflicting 69,334 Nature damage to players within 12 yards of each impact. Cleansed by jumping into an Arrow Rain zone.

Squall Leap — Wind lashes outward whenever the Restless Heart leaps, inflicting 55,467 Nature damage to all players and an additional 13,867 Nature damage every 1 sec for 8 sec. Stacks cleared by jumping into an Arrow Rain zone.

Role Strategy

Tanks: After every Gust Strike, you gain a +100% damage taken debuff — immediately step into the nearest Arrow Rain zone to clear it before the next melee hit. Position the boss so the knockback from Gust Strike does not send you into existing arrow zones, consuming them prematurely.

Healers: Bolt Gale and Squall Leap overlap in pressure. Keep the group above 60% health before each Squall Leap. Support the tank immediately after Gust Strike — the window before the next hit with the debuff active is extremely short.

DPS: Treat Arrow Rain zones as a limited shared resource. Do not jump into them casually. When Bolt Gale targets you, stand completely still — moving sweeps the cone through your allies. When Bullseye Windblast fires, wait for the arrow to land, jump into the nearest zone, and fly over the expanding ring. On Mythic, coordinate Gust Shot cleansing jumps so there are enough zones for every affected player.

Boss Tips

  • The player targeted by Bolt Gale should stand still and everyone else should move away.
  • Use Gust Shot to clear large puddles from the encounter area. Avoid hitting arrows where possible.
  • During Bullseye Windblast, walk into an arrow to get launched over the slowly expanding ring.

Elite Trash — Know These Packs

Ardent Cutthroat — Casts Poison Blades (interrupt) and applies a poison debuff to the target (dispel). Both must be covered simultaneously in every pull containing this mob.

Phantasmal Mystic — Casts Chain Lightning (interrupt priority), which jumps to the nearest ally. High interrupt priority when multiple Mystics are present in the same pull.

Territorial DragonhawkFire Spit is an extremely high-damage channel that cannot be interrupted but must be stopped via CC — stuns, roots, or knockbacks. Always include in the CC rotation.

Restless Steward — Applies Soul Torment (dispel, magic). Kill or dispel quickly before stacks accumulate.

Creeping Spindleweb — Applies Poison Spray (dispel, poison). Secondary dispel priority, but dangerous when multiple spiders are present in the same pull.

Spectral Axethrower — Throws Throw Axe with a bleed (dispel). Prioritize dispelling on the tank or anyone taking additional sustained damage.

Tips and Tricks

  • Combine the first room together with Bloodlust.
  • Territorial Dragonhawk's Fire Spit is a very high damage channel that should be "stopped" using CC.
  • On Commander Kroluk (B3), Reckless Leap targets the farthest player. One player can soak the first leap, and the tank can run away to soak the second.
  • On the Restless Heart (B4), reduce damage by clearing every stack of Squall Leap by stepping into an arrow.
