WoW Midnight 2026-2027 Roadmap: Eclipse, Talebound, WotLK Remix and More
Blizzard has revealed an expanded content roadmap for World of Warcraft: Midnight, covering the rest of 2026 and extending into summer 2027. The schedule includes two smaller autumn updates, the expansion's final major chapter, a new Season 3, substantial Housing and transmog improvements, and the return of Northrend in a new Remix event.
The biggest announcement is Patch 12.2: Eclipse, which will take players deeper beneath Azeroth for the final major confrontation with Xal'atath. Before that happens, players will face Kith'ix in Patch 12.1.5 and enter the completely new Talebound game mode in Echoes of the Worldcore.

Important: the roadmap lists release windows rather than final launch dates. Individual features and their timing may change during development.
Fall 2026: Patch 12.1.5 and Kith'ix
The first stop on the updated roadmap is Patch 12.1.5. This mid-season update continues the Curse of Ula'tek storyline by sending players beneath Ula'tek's chamber and into the prison of Kith'ix.
The Promise of Tomorrow Campaign
The new campaign, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, serves as the conclusion to the current Kith'ix storyline. It connects the events of Curse of Ula'tek with the conflicts that will eventually lead players toward the Worldcore.
The Unbinding of Kith'ix Raid
The Unbinding of Kith'ix is a new single-boss raid. Instead of introducing a full raid tier, Blizzard is using the encounter as a focused narrative finale and an additional source of mid-season loot.
Labyrinths and Aqir Invasions
Patch 12.1.5 also introduces Labyrinths, an expanded Delve-style activity built around longer runs, branching paths, additional progression, and its own rewards.
The outdoor world will be threatened by the new Aqir Invasion event. The update also includes Ascendant Venomstones, seasonal refreshes, Hallow's End changes, and additional Warband-related reputation updates for older expansions.
Fall 2026: Echoes of the Worldcore and Talebound
Patch 12.1.7, titled Echoes of the Worldcore, will introduce one of the most unusual experiments Blizzard has developed for modern World of Warcraft.
What Is Talebound?
Talebound is a standalone PvE action RPG experience that can be played solo or with friends. Players enter the dark stories of a mysterious Storyteller, explore themed levels, fight bosses, solve puzzles, collect relics, and improve their characters between attempts.
Each completed or failed run returns the group to Quillgrave, a central village where several specialists provide permanent improvements:
- Arcanist: unlocks potions, draughts, and flasks.
- Scribe: modifies talents and abilities.
- Outfitter: improves health, damage, energy, and focus.
- Antiquarian: provides passive effects that change how future runs can be approached.
Talebound Classes
Talebound uses three dedicated classes rather than normal World of Warcraft specializations:
- Slayer: a physical fighter who uses swords, firearms, explosives, and monster-hunting tools.
- Inquisitor: a holy caster who burns enemies with purifying fire.
- Witch: a nature-focused spellcaster using poison, lightning, spiders, thorns, ravens, and shapeshifting.
All three classes can double jump, dodge, and guard. Movement and positioning will therefore play a much larger role than they normally do in standard WoW combat.
Four Stories at Launch
Blizzard currently plans to launch Talebound with four replayable stories:
- Darkhaven
- Greenthistle Wood
- Greywake's Expedition
- Grove of the Night Court
The mode will offer cosmetic rewards for the main Midnight account, including transmog, Housing decor, and mounts. Blizzard plans to provide an early PTR preview of Talebound in October.
Winter 2026-2027: Patch 12.2 Eclipse
Eclipse is the final major content update of Midnight. Xal'atath and the Devouring Host are approaching the Worldsoul, forcing Azeroth's champions to travel deeper beneath the planet than ever before.
The Mantle Vault
The primary outdoor zone is The Mantle Vault, a Titan facility hidden for countless ages. Players will join the crystalline Thraegar while dealing with Titan machinery, living Azerite, hostile wildlife, and the forces of the Void.
The zone also introduces the Deepskar Empire, an underground coalition containing kobolds, troggs, drogbar, and niffen.
The Worldcore Raid
The Worldcore is an eight-boss raid featuring Void creatures, Titan constructs, living Azerite, and the long-awaited confrontation with Xal'atath.
This raid will also be connected to Midnight's Edge, the first legendary weapon of Midnight and the Worldsoul Saga. Midnight's Edge is a caster dagger earned through a multi-step process involving the Worldcore raid. It is not expected to be a simple final-boss drop.
Thraegar's Stand and The Gearhold
Thraegar's Stand is a new three-boss dungeon that will enter the Season 3 Mythic+ rotation. Its encounters include Cragcleaver and Foreman Sullk, the Azerite elemental Monokk, and Stenvarg the Inevitable.
The update additionally introduces The Gearhold, a single-boss lair inhabited by the enormous Azerite bat Noctinaxx. The encounter will be available on World, Normal, Heroic, and flexible Mythic difficulties.
New Delves, Prey and Outdoor Content
Season 3 continues Delve progression alongside Valeera Sanguinar and introduces a new Nemesis named Astalor Bloodsworn.
The Prey system receives its final difficulty, Agony Mode, while Radiant Screams will create repeatable outdoor disturbances connected to the suffering Worldsoul.
Midnight Season 3 Mythic+ Changes
Season 3 begins shortly after the launch of Eclipse and introduces a new eight-dungeon Mythic+ rotation.
| Dungeon | Original Expansion |
|---|---|
| Thraegar's Stand | Midnight: Eclipse |
| Maisara Cavern | Midnight |
| Magisters' Terrace | Midnight |
| The Underrot | Battle for Azeroth |
| Iron Docks | Warlords of Draenor |
| Sanguine Depths | Shadowlands |
| The Stonecore | Cataclysm |
| Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr | Dragonflight |
Blizzard is also changing the highest seasonal Mythic+ rankings. Season 3 will add a reward for the top 5%, while both top 5% and top 1% eligibility will be calculated separately for each specialization.
A Protection Warrior, for example, will compete against other Protection Warriors instead of the entire Mythic+ population. This should give less-represented specializations a fairer route toward seasonal ranking rewards.
New Paladins and Housing Improvements
Three New Paladin Options
With Eclipse, Forsaken, Night Elf, and Troll characters will finally be able to become Paladins. Their racial class lore, custom mounts, and other cosmetic details have not yet been fully revealed.
Housing Showcase and Mannequins
The Housing system will receive another major update. Players will be able to submit snapshots of their homes to the new Housing Showcase, generate Visitor Codes, and explore featured community builds.
Mannequins will allow players to display unlocked armor and weapon appearances inside their homes. Builders will also gain copy-paste, multi-select, interface improvements, and the ability to purchase additional copies of previously collected decor without returning to the original vendor.
Calibration Chamber and PvP Journey
The new Calibration Chamber will provide advanced training targets, raid buffs, and cooldown resets for testing rotations alone or with a group.
PvP progression will receive a new Journey with its own rewards, although Blizzard has not yet published the complete reward list.
Spring 2027: Patches 12.2.5 and 12.2.7
Patch 12.2.5
Patch 12.2.5 is scheduled to introduce the Soulstorms outdoor event, additional story content, and one of the largest transmog changes in the game's history.
Players will be able to use appearances across different armor types without the existing restrictions. This means significantly more freedom when creating outfits for cloth, leather, mail, and plate characters.
Patch 12.2.7
The final listed Midnight update includes another story campaign, a condensed recap of the expansion's narrative, Lorewalking improvements, profession updates, and changes to the Midsummer Fire Festival.
Blizzard also plans to present The Last Titan during spring 2027, following the conclusion of Midnight: Eclipse.
Summer 2027: Wrath of the Lich King Remix
The final entry on the roadmap is Wrath of the Lich King Remix, scheduled for summer 2027.
The limited-time event will return players to Northrend before The Last Titan. Blizzard has not yet revealed its currencies, progression system, raid schedule, or collectible rewards, so assumptions based on Mists of Pandaria Remix and Legion Remix should not be treated as confirmed information.
The timing nevertheless makes Wrath Remix a natural bridge into The Last Titan, which will once again place Northrend at the center of World of Warcraft's story.
What Players Should Prepare For
The updated roadmap gives every type of player something substantial to follow. Raiders receive two new encounters before the Worldcore, Mythic+ players get a redesigned seasonal ranking structure, solo players gain Labyrinths and Talebound, and collectors receive major Housing and transmog improvements.
- Finish important Season 2 objectives before Eclipse begins.
- Prepare characters for the Kith'ix raid and Labyrinths in Patch 12.1.5.
- Keep rare armor appearances because Patch 12.2.5 will expand transmog possibilities.
- Watch for Talebound PTR testing and reward previews.
- Avoid making plans around exact release dates until Blizzard publishes the final schedule.
Players who want to complete seasonal raids, Mythic+ milestones, Delves, or limited-time rewards before the next update can explore the available World of Warcraft services at BuyBoost.
