WoW Dragonriding Boost

WHAT IS DRAGONRIDING?

Dragonriding, also known as Dynamic Flight, is a new form of aerial movement introduced in the Dragonflight expansion. Dynamic Flight allows you to defy gravity, using momentum and skill to soar to greater heights and explore the continents.

Think of Dragonriding as a mini-game. You press the spacebar to take off, gaining height and speed, and must strategize to travel as far as possible before landing again. Dragonriding feels like swooping and diving through the landscapes.

DRAGONRIDING WORLDWIDE

Initially, Dragonriding was restricted to the Dragon Isles, but with Patch 10.2.5, it can be used anywhere flying is available. The Riding Abroad debuff for Dragonriding outside the Dragon Isles limits maximum speed to 85% of what it is in the Dragon Isles. This results in a 15% reduction in maximum speed, but the difference is barely noticeable.

Many old mounts have been updated with Dragonriding animations and will support Dragonriding/Dynamic Flight in the War Within pre-patch. Druid's Flight Form will also support Dragonriding in the War Within pre-patch. Characters under Level 60 can still use Dragonriding mounts with regular flying.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO UNLOCK DRAGONRIDING?

Dragonriding and its associated talents become available at Level 60. When you first enter the Dragon Isles and begin leveling in the Waking Shores, it takes about 30 minutes to unlock Dragonriding. After completing a brief introductory questline, you will receive your first Dragon Isles Drake and gain access to the initial set of Dragonriding skills.

VIGOR (DRAGONRIDING RESOURCE)

Vigor is the main resource for Dragonriding abilities. It recharges while you're on the ground, whether mounted or not, and while Dragonriding at high speeds. Initially, you start with three Vigor upon unlocking Dragonriding. With all talents maxed out, you'll have six Vigor and significantly faster regeneration.

You can adjust the position of the Vigor Resource Bar in Edit Mode. We recommend using AzerPUG's DragonRider addon, which displays the Vigor bar even when you are dismounted.

DRAGONRIDING ABILITIES

Dragonriding abilities allow you to navigate your Dragon Isles Drake and use Vigor. Most abilities are unlocked by completing the main campaign in each of the four zones, while some new ones are available directly through the Dragonriding Talent Tree.

Initial Dragonriding Abilities

When you first unlock Dragonriding in the Waking Shores, you will automatically learn the following abilities:

  • Dragonriding Basics: While falling from a high location, your Dragon Isles drake extends its wings to propel you forward. Pointing downward grants more momentum, leveling out transfers that momentum forward, and pointing upward slows you down. At your slowest, you will start to fall slowly toward the ground. You also gain access to Surge Forward and Skyward Ascent.
  • Vigor: Dragonriding abilities use Vigor. Spending time on the ground, whether mounted or dismounted, regenerates one Vigor every 30 seconds.
  • Lift Off: When mounted on a dragonriding mount, double jump to launch upward and start gliding forward.
  • Thrill of the Skies: While Dragonriding at high speeds, you regenerate one Vigor every 15 seconds.
  • Aerial Halt: Added in Patch 10.0.7, this ability is learned through Dragonriding talents and allows you to stop mid-air.

Additional Dragonriding Abilities

These abilities are unlocked upon completing the main campaign in the new zones:

  • Winds of the Isles (Unlocked in Ohn'ahran Plains): Detect and utilize gale winds to redirect your flight and boost your speed.
  • Whirling Surge (Unlocked in Azure Span): Spiral forward a great distance, increasing your speed.
  • Bronze Timelock (Unlocked in Thaldraszus): Mark a waypoint on your positional timeline and use Bronze Rewind to return to this location.

Dragonriding abilities can be found in your Spellbook and rearranged to suit your preferences.

DRAGONRIDING TALENTS

When you first unlock Dragonriding, your Dragon Isles Drake will feel limited due to having low Vigor and slow Vigor regeneration. Dragonriding Talents are unlockable perks that enhance your ability to stay airborne longer, improving your Dragonriding expertise. Once unlocked, Dragonriding Talents are account-wide, giving all your characters access to them. For a smoother leveling experience, we recommend maxing out the talent tree as soon as you unlock Dragonriding.

DRAGON GLYPHS

Dragon Glyphs are glowing objects you must fly through to earn talent points for Dragonriding. Once collected, you can spend these points on Dragonriding Talents. Dragon Glyphs are scattered throughout the Dragon Isles.

DRAGONRIDING RACING

Dragon Racing is an optional aspect of Dragonriding that lets you test your flying skills on various courses across the Dragon Isles.

DRAGON ISLES DRAKES

As of Patch 10.2, you can earn up to seven Dragonriding mounts in the game. You will unlock four Dragon Isles Drakes in the main zones of the Dragon Isles: the RenewedProto-Drake, Windborne Velocidrake, Highland Drake, and CliffsideWylderdrake. Completing the campaign in Zaralek Cavern grants you the WindingSlitherdrake, and starting the Emerald Dream campaign gives you the FlourishingWhimsydrake. The final mount, the Grotto Netherwing Drake, is available through the Dragon Keeping questline.

DRAGON ISLES DRAKE CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS

Dragonriding mounts offer extensive customization options. These options can be unlocked using items obtained from Professions, Quests, Raids, Renown, Dragonflight Dungeons, and various other sources. Customization for drakes is exclusively available at the Rostrum of Transformation. You can personalize aspects such as snouts, horns, scales, tails, and armor on your Dragonriding mounts.

RIDE ALONG OPTION

By enabling this setting, your Dragon Isles Drake becomes interactable, allowing other players to join as whelps that accompany your Drake. Speak to Lithragosa near any Rostrum of Transformation, such as the one at Skytop Observatory during the Dragonriding Tutorial or in Valdrakken, and select the "Enable Passengers" option. Whelps can collect Dragonriding Glyphs but do not participate in Dragonriding Racing events. To disable this feature, simply speak to Lithragosa again.
