WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 2 — Overlords of Outland: Complete Guide
The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary is about to take its first real endgame leap forward. Blizzard has officially confirmed that Phase 2, Overlords of Outland, launches on May 14, 2026 at 3:00 PM PDT / 23:00 BST, bringing the next major progression wave to all realms at the same time.
This is the update that pushes TBC Anniversary beyond its opening tier and into the part of the expansion many players remember as the point where Outland truly starts to become demanding. Phase 2 is not just about more loot — it is about stronger raids, more daily progression, faster long-term character growth, and a much more serious raid environment than what many guilds experienced in the first phase.
What's New in Phase 2
Phase 2 will bring two highly anticipated 25-player raids, new reputation factions, Arena Season Two, new profession recipes, and the much-anticipated Druid Swift Flight Form.

Blizzard set the exact window: 3:00 PM PDT / 23:00 BST on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
New Raids
Serpentshrine Cavern

Serpentshrine Cavern is the first raid in TBC Classic Phase 2, located deep beneath the waters of Zangarmarsh — the lair of Lady Vashj and her naga forces. This raid consists of six bosses and is designed for 25 players.
Serpentshrine Cavern features six encounters, with Lady Vashj as the final boss. She drops the Vashj's Vial Remnant required for Phase 3 progression. SSC is the longer raid and has more mechanics to deal with.
Attunement: To begin attunement for Serpentshrine Cavern, players will need to locate Skar'this the Heretic in the Heroic Slave Pens dungeon and accept the quest The Cudgel of Kardesh. The quest line requires running different dungeons and Phase 1 raids to complete.
Resistance requirements: Several Phase 2 bosses have hard mechanical requirements around elemental resistance. Hydross the Unstable in SSC alternates between Frost and Nature phases and requires two dedicated resistance tanks — without the correct gear, they simply get one-shot. Leotheras the Blind adds a Fire resistance requirement for the Warlock tank. The resistance cap against raid bosses in TBC sits at 365, and guilds should aim as close to that as possible when fully buffed.
Tempest Keep: The Eye

The second major raid in Overlords of Outland is Tempest Keep: The Eye, another 25-player raid and one of the most recognizable TBC instances. It also carries one of the most famous mount drops in WoW Classic history: Ashes of Al'ar.
Tempest Keep runs leaner at four bosses, but Kael'thas Sunstrider rivals Lady Vashj in complexity with his five-phase encounter. Most guilds aim to clear both raids each week to maximize Tier 5 token acquisition across the full set.
Boss lineup:
Al'ar — a phoenix-like construct whose seemingly simple abilities are extremely deadly; slight misposition leads to death. Void Reaver — a mechanical giant focused on threat control and AoE damage. High Astromancer Solarian — an arcane caster that splits into smaller mobs and initiates phase transitions. Kael'thas Sunstrider — the most challenging boss to date, the fight divides into five phases, includes summoned weapons, a phoenix, and a demanding final burst phase.
Attunement: Attunement for The Eye begins with the quest The Hand of Gul'dan from Earthmender Torlok at the Altar of Damnation in Shadowmoon Valley.
The Tempest Keep attunement is considerably longer. It begins with the Cipher of Damnation chain in Shadowmoon Valley and runs through the four Trials of the Naaru, including a timed Heroic Shattered Halls run and protecting Millhouse Manastorm in Heroic Arcatraz, before finishing with a Magtheridon kill. Completing both chains awards the Champion of the Naaru title in addition to raid access.
Tier 5 Loot Split
SSC drops Tier 5 set tokens for gloves, legs, and helms. The Eye drops tokens for shoulders and chest. This means you need both raids cleared every week to build a complete set. Most serious guilds prioritize Void Reaver in The Eye first for easy shoulder tokens, then alternate SSC and TK weekly.

Account-Wide Attunements
One of the more player-friendly changes on Anniversary realms is that raid attunements are account-wide. Complete the chain once on any character and every alt you have walks straight into the raid. This is a significant quality-of-life improvement over the original TBC release, where attunements were character-specific and created a major barrier for alts.
Daily Quest Factions
Ogri'la — Blade's Edge Mountains

Ogri'la is one of the new daily quest factions opening in Phase 2. It provides gold, gear upgrades, and Apexis crystal rewards.
Ogri'la hands out Apexis crystals for gear upgrades and sellable pieces. Hit these during low-pop hours and they become steady gold plus rep that pay for raid consumables later.
Sha'tari Skyguard — Terokkar Forest

Sha'tari Skyguard gives cloaks, trinkets, and the colorful Nether Ray flying mounts at Exalted. A few dailies feed rep to both Ogri'la and Sha'tari Skyguard at once, so you can push them in parallel without wasting time.
Both factions are good sources of gold, gear upgrades, and mounts throughout Phase 2.
Arena Season 2

Blizzard also confirms that Arena Season 2 begins as part of Overlords of Outland. Phase 2 is not only a PvE progression patch — it also resets the competitive pressure on the PvP side and gives arena players a fresh reason to queue hard, chase rating, and pursue new gear and title progression.
Key Anniversary changes to Arena:
The TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 2 patch notes confirm that Arena weapon rating requirements have been reduced from 1,850 to 1,700 — meaning the gear ceiling is more accessible in this iteration. The team charter system has been removed entirely, so there are no restrictions on who you can queue with.
Faction Battlegear becomes available for players who hit Honored reputation with their respective Outland factions, giving new or returning PvP players a viable entry-level gear path. Same-faction battleground queuing also returns, preventing the queue-time catastrophes that plagued servers with skewed faction ratios.
Druid Swift Flight Form
During Phase 2 of TBC Classic Anniversary, Druids received a pleasant surprise: the questline to learn Swift Flight Form was finally unlocked, greatly improving their travel in Outland. Swift Flight Form provides 280% flying speed, making it as fast as an epic flying mount, while keeping instant cast utility.
You need an epic flying mount (5,000 gold) trained before the quest chain becomes available.
New Profession Recipes
New profession recipes roll out in Phase 2 — better feasts, epic engineering goggles, and Alchemy cauldrons that make guild buffing smoother.
Engineering receives upgrades tied to Phase 2 content, with new schematics and crafted items becoming available once the raids go live.
For resistance gear crafting: the primary crafted sources come from Blacksmithing — the Iceguard set for Frost and the Wildguard set for Nature, requiring primarily Primal Water, Primal Life, and relevant metal bars. These materials are significantly cheaper now than they will be on Phase 2 launch day.
Full Phase Roadmap
The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary launched February 5, 2026, and the full TBC Anniversary cycle runs roughly eight to nine months across four phases. Phase 3 brings Battle for Mount Hyjal and The Black Temple, with Netherwing daily quests and Arena Season 3. A mid-phase release adds Zul'Aman with the timed bear mount run. The final phase opens Sunwell Plateau and the Isle of Quel'Danas daily quest hub.
| Phase | Content | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon, Arena S1 | February 5, 2026 |
| Phase 2 | SSC, The Eye, Ogri'la, Sha'tari Skyguard, Arena S2 | May 14, 2026 |
| Phase 3 | Black Temple, Mount Hyjal, Netherwing, Arena S3 | Summer 2026 |
| Phase 3.5 | Zul'Aman, Arena S4 | Autumn 2026 |
| Phase 4 | Sunwell Plateau, Isle of Quel'Danas | Winter 2026 |
How to Prepare for Phase 2 Right Now
Finish attunements immediately. Both SSC and The Eye have long quest chains through heroic dungeons and Phase 1 raids. Don't wait until May 13 to start. Remember: attunements are account-wide, so one character completing it covers all your alts.
Farm resistance gear. The resistance cap against raid bosses in TBC sits at 365. Materials for the Iceguard and Wildguard crafted sets are significantly cheaper now than they will be on Phase 2 launch day. Buy and craft them before the patch hits.
Stock consumables and materials. The consumable market dumps hard once these raids open — stock up early if you craft or flip on the AH. Flask of Distilled Wisdom, Flask of Relentless Assault, and nature resistance consumables will spike in price on May 14.
Push Arena rating now. Season 2 resets the ladder on launch day. Players who stockpile honor and conquest points in the final weeks of Season 1 enter the new season with a meaningful advantage.
Pick up Druid flying. If you play a Druid, train epic flying before Phase 2 goes live so Swift Flight Form is immediately available when the questline unlocks.
